Divart Workshop is situated in the plains of South Africa, where local artists create a collection of raku ceramics based on ethnic and/or humoristic inspiration.

What is "raku"?

The raku is an original Japanese technique of pottery dating from the 16th century, and used for the manufacturing of pieces intended for the Tea ceremony. The sculpture is taken out of the oven during the process, incandescent near 1000°C, it is then plunged into sawdust from which it ignites. Of this combustion and the thermal shock to which the piece is submitted, appear many cracks in the enamelling through which infiltrates the smoke.
