"The tree of life" Klim silk and satin scarf
This silk and satin scarf is inspired by Gustav Klimt's mosaic "The Tree of Life" (1909).
Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), founder of the Viennese Secession, realized the project of a mosaic frieze as a decoration for a dining room of the Stoclet palace in Brussels. Its contents may be interpreted in many ways. However, the spiral ornaments seems to evoke the tree of life or, according to Christian inconography, the tree of knowledge of the Garden of Eden.
Since 1890, the Brochier Family has been working as silk manufacturers for now 5 generations. Their workshop is a qualitative reference of the French traditionnal know-how concerning the specific craft skills of silk thread. This silk-makers house which exists for 118 years has succeed in linking traditionnal skills and modern fashionned clothing.
