Hatsushika Hokusai :
Hokusai est né en 1760 à Tokyo. Il a beaucoup voyagé à travers le Japon et a utilisé une trentaine de noms différents dans sa carrière, comme "Gakyojin", que l'on peut traduire par "fou de peinture". La série "Trente-six vues du mont Fuji" incluant son chef-d'oeuvre "La Grande Vague de Kanagawa" l'a rendu célèbre. Bien qu'au Japon sa création était plutôt considérée comme banale, elle a eu une grande influence sur toute l'Europe, inspirant de grands artistes comme Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Egon Schiele et Gustav Klimt.
